I’m one of the 650,000 Americans who recently closed our bank accounts in favor of joining a credit union.
The credit union manager spoke to me about their free bill pay. I’d heard of bill pay before, but I’d always figured, Hey, my student loan companies give me a .25% interest rate reduction if I just bend over and let them withdrawal it from my account each month.
I took a look at my new Credit Union’s Bill Pay Demo video. I saw that I had the option to not only schedule monthly payments, but also bi-weekly and weekly payments, and that reminded me of a story I had heard about some home owners who off their mortgages faster by paying half their mortgage twice a month.
I used this bi-weekly savings calculator and discovered that even if I forgo the .25% interest reduction in favor of my credit union’s bill pay, and I make bi-weekly half payments, I’ll save hundreds of dollars in interest.
And I’ll save even more by making weekly quarter payments.

What is Phase One of VERB? It's a collaborative pedagogy model. That means that architects, interns, designers, builders, students, professors, people considering architecture, and yes, even bored housewives can and should participate.

I am starting a new kind of architecture school. Unlike most architecture schools, you wouldn't have to submit GRE scores or good grades or letters of recommendation. You wouldn't have to put the rest of your life on hold for 3 to 5 years. You wouldn't have to accrue tens of thousands of dollars in debt. At my architecture school, anyone could come for a few weeks and learn how to build a house with their own two hands. My teachers would take skills and concepts from some of these other workshops I've listed above... except classes would be held year-round to make it easy to fit into your schedule. I would have a number of different campuses around the country that would teach building designs appropriate to the local climate. And I need your help. Can you donate land for a campus? Can you dotate books for a library? Can you teach a workshop? Can you provide start-up capital? Let me know.
